To get advanced in any software you must learn how to look under the hood of that package. Maya is no difference. In order to work efficiently and rapidly with advanced requirements (Rigging, VFX...) you must learn how to communicate with Maya directly without passing by the GUI.

All 3D DCC companies are burning the candles at both ends to improve their GUIs by introducing new buttons, shelves and features in each update, trying to cover as many areas as possible (Modeling, Rigging, Animation,…), but still the software “out of the box” cannot be adapted automatically to your workflow, you must do the reverse, “adapt” the software (Maya) to your workflow.

This can be achieved by adding the “scripting skill” under your belt using Python which is one of the easiest scripting languages and supported by all 3D packages out there.

In this eBook I tried to be as brief as possible; Covering all the topics that I wished to learn when I started out with Maya in a logical order; “Avoiding history” and “side subjects” and diving straight to the point with examples, exercises and their solutions after each chapter.
